The use of such plaques on entrances to homes and other buildings, in classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms or libraries, and in churches or chapels, serve to remind Australians of the presence of the Aboriginal people in our land millennia before the making of the Australian colonies and the Australian nation. The use of plaques such as these were one of the recommendations of the 2006 Social Justice Statement from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC), called The Heart of our Country: Dignity and Justice for our Indigenous Sisters and Brothers. More information on current or previous Social Justice Statements is available from the Australian Catholic Social Justice Council (ACSJC) website: www.acsjc.org.au.
