The use of acknowledgement plaques on entrances to homes and other buildings, in classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms or libraries, and in churches or chapels, serve to remind Australians of the presence of the Aboriginal people in our land millennia before the making of the Australian colonies and the Australian nation.
The use of plaques such as these were one of the recommendations of the 2006 Social Justice Statement from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC), called The Heart of our Country: Dignity and Justice for our Indigenous Sisters and Brothers. More information on current or previous Social Justice Statements is available from the Australian Catholic Social Justice Council (ACSJC) website: www.acsjc.org.au.
JEDO sells the plaques pictured above at $9.50 each, with the option of pick up from JEDO or delivery to your nominated address. To order plaques for yourself, or your parish, school or workplace, download and complete the order form below and return it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
