2020 National Reconciliation Week Theme Announced
In this Together
Reconciliation Australia today announced the theme for National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2020 is In This Together.
Chief Executive Officer, Karen Mundine, said that Australia’s ability to move forward as a nation relies on individuals, organisations and communities coming together in the spirit of reconciliation.
“The National Reconciliation Week 2020 theme reinforces that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures,” she said.
Unfortunately due to the health climate regarding COVID-19 we will have to cancel our original events.
We will be looking at other creative ways to acknowledge this important week so do watch this space.
Please read the official COVID-19 message from our CEO and Board Co-chairs here.
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. We can continue to do this.
The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
The 2020 theme for National Reconciliation Week is ‘In this Together’. The theme does not change with the cancellation of the NRW Reconciliation Breakfast or the Walk for Reconciliation.
The theme recognises that the Reconciliation journey is for all Australians, everyone has a role to play as we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
Further details for the 2020 NRW events will be announced in the near future.
