The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change and what needs to be done. Its Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C was approved by governments on 8Th October 2018.
Perth has three Lead Authors involved in this Report:
- Professor Petra Tschakert, Geography, Faculty of Science, UWA
- Professor Peter Newman, School of Design & Built Environment, Curtin University
- Dr Jatin Kala, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science, Murdoch University.
The three speakers will do introductory comments on the following with plenty of time for questions:
- Why 1.50C is critical and implications for pathways to the future
- What is being done globally and what needs to be done
- Impact of climate change on poverty and inequality
