As you enjoy your Easter chocolate this year, we encourage you to remember that much of that chocolate sold on Australian shelves is made using cocoa from plantations on the West Coast of Africa, where children as young as 12 are working. Unfortunately, many are trafficked or forced from an early age into work that is dangerous, unpaid, and prevents them from attending school.
You can help combat this by buying chocolate that has been made from ethically sourced cocoa, supporting farmers who engage in good labour practises. Look out for the following certification labels when buying your chocolate this Easter:
