National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday – 5th July
The first Sunday in July celebrates National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday, that is, this Sunday, the 5th of July.
It is a time where Catholics from all over Australia celebrate and acknowledge the gifts that Indigenous people bring to the Catholic Church in Australia. It is also a time to reflect on our own relationships with Australia’s first peoples.
Every year, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) produces a Resource Kit for Parishes and Schools. The kit contains prayers, songs, and other resources that can be used to plan and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday.
