Homelessness Prevention Week will run from Monday 3rd August, until Sunday 9th August. Here is some information about related organisations and initiatives that you can get involved in, this Homelessness Prevention Week.
Homelessness Australia (HA)
This is the national peak body for homelessness in Australia, which provides systemic advocacy for the homelessness sector. Homelessness Australia works in collaboration with homelessness assistance services, state and national homelessness peak organisations, other peak organisations, government agencies, and the broader community. 3rd – 9th August: Sleep in your Car
Sleep in your Car is about sleeping rough to raise awareness and funds for those doing it tough. On any given night in Australia, there are over 100,000 people without a home and safe place to sleep, of which 26,000 are young people. Does that matter to you? If it does, please consider joining them in giving up your bed for the night, to raise funds and awareness for this great cause. Sleep in your Car is organised by Fusion Australia. 3rd – 9th August: #laceitup for Homeless Persons Week
#laceitup is raising awareness of youth homelessness in Australia, and raising vital funds for Youth Off The Streets. #laceitup is a simple moment in your daily routine – tying up your laces, and letting it act as a symbol for the thousands of young people that battles cold streets every day.
